So the hits keep on coming. Besides what happened in my last post, there was just a major fire in the town just south of us. 6 or 7 fire departments called in, but it was so bad they just let it burn. They kept it from spreading though. Crazy. Early Friday morning someone tried to burn down one of the apartment buildings on the south end of town. Poured gas down the hallways.  It's CRAZY around here. And then I hear they brought back the beer tent at the festival this year. That always livens things up. And we obviously don't need any help doing that.

So how is everyone doing in this hiatus from the network shows. Pick up any good shows that you missed during the season? I'm getting caught up on The Listener. Pretty good show. Really different. (Plus it's filmed in Toronto, a city I've actually been to.) I'm glad it's coming to American TV.
I dropped In Plain Sight. I came to the realization that i hate Mary. I love Marshall, but it's just not worth 40 minutes of Mary for 2 minutes of Marshall.
Rescue Me is going strong, I loved the last episode. Sean Garrity is my favorite character on any show ever. I thought it was Goren on Criminal Intent, but Sean is just waaay better.
Let's see what else do I watch? Daily Show/Colbert Report. I don't watch Colbert as much anymore. Not sure why, I just don't really like his character much anymore.
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. He needs some new writers badly. I think he's doing okay, it justs seems like he's struggling with the material.  Seventh Floor West is pretty good though. A lot of people don't like Higgins the announcer, but I like him. Probably because we have the same sense of humor.

I've never watched "In Plain Sight". Part of the reason is I have a feeling Mary would drive me crazy.

She's an ungrateful bitch, who hogs the screen. I just watch Criminal Intent and then turn the TV off on Sundays.

I'm sort of the same with DS/CR. Daily Show still has me interested but I've always felt weird about Colbert.
As for Fallon, I think his writing works with his character. He just seems that dorky and to see writing that reflects how nervous he may actually be is sort of refreshing. I can't wait until Conan comes back though!

The other shows, I must check out at some point. Crazy to hear about the fires btw. Stay safe!

Yeah, I can see what you're talking about with Fallon. I kind of thought that was him ad-libbing, but I suppose a lot of it's written. Sooo looking forward to Conan though. I love all his promos.

I forgot to mention The Unusuals, but it got canceled so I try not to think about it too much. It was a really smart, funny show. The characters were just coming into being. Oopds, I've made myself sad again. Off to look at pictures of kittens.

I don't watch Fallon every night but I adore everything about it save for the monologue. He needs to find something better. Monologues are not his thing.

You're right he really staggers through those. Maybe make it shorter or something. Or start the show with a song monologue. He's comfortable with music.

That Slow Jam thing he did the first or second day was amazing. Or even skits, if he does cold opens like Ferguson. I don't know if he owns the characters he did on SNL or how that works, but he can always just invent new ones.

Yeah, there is not enough Marshall this season. His sole purpose seems to be ti admire and worship Mary. And I'm like really?!?!?

I still don't get what her problem is.

Nor do I. And just the way she uses Raph. It was annoying.
