It heating up around here. It's taking care of the flood water. I still hear helicopters overhead. News helicopters. The Red Cross is at the library. I spoke with the lady in charge. I probably shouldn't have left, but there really wasn't much to do except sit around. The evacuees had been released back to their homes. All that's left is Red Cross food. Crackers, water, 20 gallons of coffee, and two very bored Red Cross workers. The director of the library (my boss) was there most of the day. She left about the same time I did. I was there when the Red Cross got there. So much food. Nobody to eat it though. I'm sure the librarians can finish off the coffee. When I left the Red Cross lady that was in charge was smoking a cigarette on a bench outside the library. We didn't get any extra people in the library. Just the mayor and the fire chief.
One news crew came into the library. I should be on camera. I was wearing an American flag shirt. The guy ducking away from the camera was my father. He doesn't like having his picture taken. I got some pictures of the news lady interviewing the fire chief when he announced that the condos were back open.
The strange thing is that President Bush was planning to come to Lake County for a fundraiser. I don't know when he's coming, but maybe he'll come visit our "disaster area."
I'm going to try to gather some pictures together. Some from the news, some I took myself. I didn't get any pictures of the flooded river I couldn't get down there, but I did get a picture of all the fire trucks and ambulances.
Edit: OMG! I was on the news! Twice! I looked like shit!
Edit 2: My pictures.
